The Vivint Tilt Sensor needs to be recharged

Using a flathead screwdriver, turn the screwdriver 90 degrees to remove the sensor from the back plate.

To view the battery, first remove the sensor from the back plate, place a screwdriver in the slot between the metal clip and the battery, and then lever the battery while holding back a black plastic ridge securing it.

Ensure the plus (+) sign is facing up when inserting the replacement battery.

The sensor should be replaced on the back plate, and the arrow on the side of the sensor should point upward as the tamper button is aligned with the tamper tab. Then exit Test Mode on your panel to ensure the sensor is reporting correctly.

 

Vivint Tilt Sensor - Installation Guide

An easy task

  • A typical timeframe is 10-15 minutes
  • The work must be done at home

The following are required:

  • Step Stools and ladders
  • Screwdriver with a Phillip's head
  • An adjustable speed drill with a 1/16" drill bit is used
  • 1 new Tilt Sensor 

The location of your Vivint Garage Door Sensor should be chosen carefully.

Consider:

  • Sectional garage doors should have the sensor installed near the top of the top panel. When the door is closed, mount the sensor, so it sits in a vertical position if it is on a different type of tilting entry.
  • In the event that the sensor is exposed to moisture or temperatures beyond its operating range and where there is a large quantity of metal or electrical wiring, it may not be able to communicate with the control panel. It should not be installed in areas exposed to moisture or outside its operating range.

Get your sensor out of the box

Separate the mounting plate from the sensor by opening it. Take off the pull strip that protects the battery.

The battery tab needs to be removed

Remove the plastic pull strip that protects the battery.

Identify the location of the mounting plate

Mark the location of the sensor using the back plate as a template. In case you are using adhesive, outline the back plate if you are drilling the holes. Tamper tabs should be oriented downward.

The mounting plate needs to be attached

A screw or adhesive strip can be used to mount the Tilt Sensor. The sensor comes with both. Upward should be the direction of the arrow.

Make sure your sensor is attached

Secure the sensor with the arrow pointing upwards when snapping it onto the mounting plate. The Vivint Garage Door Sensor can be integrated into your panel so that it can work with it

Sensors should be tested

Check that the sensor is communicating properly with your panel by raising and lowering your garage door.
